2cEv Range

How far can I go on a full charge?

The range on our 2cEv is approximately 65 miles real world range. We drove our 2cEv from our workshop to the National motor museum in Beaulieu and part of the way back (driving normally) and the range was 65.86 miles. Plus on our Journey we passed a number of places we could of stopped and charged our 2cEv.

You might think 65 miles is not enough but…

The average yearly mileage in the UK is 7134 miles which is less than 20 miles per day. (released by the Department for Transport calculated from MOT dates) and the average mileage for classic cars is way below 500 miles per year.

This means if you only drive your classic for 6 mouths out of the year and only drive it on weekends it is still below 15 miles per day.

So our range of 65 miles will be plenty for most people.

Range Anxiety

As I said before, you need to get into a different mindset when driving an EV.

If your journey is close to or over the 2cEv range and you expect to get there without charging then range anxiety will kick in as you get low on power.

You need to stop somewhere on your journey and you need to plan where you are going to stop. Most people will usually stop for a toilet or food break during their journey as 55 miles on A/B roads is approximately 2 hours of driving

Range
Will depend on, where you drive, how you drive and the outside temperature. Plus how many passengers.

Where you drive
If where you drive is very flat you will get a higher range however if you are driving up the French alps then your range will be a lot lower. This is because it takes more energy to go up hill (just ask any cyclist) and when going down hill the motor will put power back into the battery (regen).

How you drive
If you drive flat out you will not get the range we estimate. The same goes for an ICE car as well. It is best to drive nice and steady and take advantage of the regen.

Outside temperature
The outside temperature makes a difference. If it is -1 outside the battery is not as efficient and you will more than likely have the heater on. However it does mean you will get a little more range in the summer than in winter.
